Today is 11.11.11 According to Gregorian Calendar

We are all fascinated by numbers. Even more fascinated by them if they are aligned in a particular order. Prophecies, conspiracy theories, disasters, apocalypse, they are all expected to happen on a certain day where the numbers are repetitive or sum up to a certain total. Humans love encoding and deciphering numbers. It's in their nature, we want to believe in something. We have to remember thought that calendars are man made. The date you are interpreting to be 11.11.11 corresponds to many others on any other observed calender. According to http://calendopedia.com/ there are seven calendars currently in use in the world today.

The Gregorian Calendar is used around the world for business and legal reasons Today is 11.11.11
The Chinese Calendar is used is south east Asia
The Hebrew Calendar is used in Israel and by Jews around the world Today is 14 Heshvan 5772
The Islamic Calendar is used by Muslims around the world Today is 14 Dhul Hijja 1432
The Persian Calendar is used in Iran and Afghanistan Today is 20 Aban 1390
The Ehtiopian Calendar is used in Ethipoia
The Balinese Pawukon is used in Bali

The above mentioned calendars are still in use in our day. There are many others that are no longer used but still continue to stir conspiracy theories around the world.

North Shore Flea July 27

It has been 6 shows since the North Shore Flea Season Opener. July 27 aka the lucky 7th, to me was, by far, the best one. Don't get me wrong, we have fun at each and every show, cause it is our girls' night out. But this time seemed to me, like we started having an established customer base, with lots of familiar faces.
The expected storms left us fewer in numbers. But "Lucky 7" showed it's miracle and the rain passed us by. Julee of a Touch of Vintage was with us, too. Great dealers had great product. I feel lucky to be a part of such a wonderful vendors' community. Unfortunately, I won't make it to the next 5 shows, cause I'll be in Turkiye first and Brimfield after that. I am hoping to make it to the season closer on Sep 14th. Thanks to everyone and especially to Melissa Sands for making this fabulous event possible. I am gonna miss you all.

Barrington Arboretum Antiques and Garden Market

Last Sunday me, as Tangerine Vintage and my partner in crime, Kimberly Oliva of Estate Chicago were exhibiting at Barrington Arboretum Antique Market. It is a mini show in the heart of the Arboretum Mall in South Barrington, held only 3 times a year next one being on September 18th and it is probably the most visually enticing show in the Chicagoland. I saw some great displays and love to share them with my fellow followers.

Here are some takes from our booth:

DeLizza Juliana Demi Parure, Amber Art Nouveau Czech Glass Necklace and Miriam Haskell Pearl Necklace

Czech glass jewelry and Irice Glass Perfume Bottles

It is always a pleasure to have Diane Landry around with her great displays and fabulous taste. Check out the following shots from her booth:

Don't you love vintage signs? I do!

Diane was sharing her booth with her friend Lisa. I loved the dice filled bowl and the letters

The following gorgeousness is by the owner of the Arboretum Antique Market, Ms. Karrin Olsson-DaBoll of Steeplechase Antiques

Those jars are amazing

This is the Fountain right next to us, which is refreshing when it's hot. We have experienced all types of weather that day. Rain and Storm in the morning, cool and windy in the late morning, hot and muggy in the afternoon. Oh, Chicago, we love you!

North Shore Flea Season Opener

We got rained on for another season opener this year, while still recovering from Randolph Street Market's season opener last month. Yet, I am confident that North Shore Flea is bound to be a huge attraction for the Wednesdays to come, this summer. I loved it!

I looked like a crazy lady after putting on those layers to beat the chilly weather

My 2 best customers were under 10yrs old!

Looking forward to next Wednesday and keeping my fingers crossed for no rain!

Randolph Street Market Season Opener

It's already here, the long awaited Season Opener of Randolph Street Market is this weekend! I am so excited. Every year, as we say hello to summer with Memorial Day weekend, we indulge ourselves into the vintage marvels of the Randolph Street Market. People travel from around the U.S. or even from around the world to shop for the fabulous Antique and vintage finds. Be sure to visit us: there is music, there is food and most importantly you'll be having a great time traveling back in time. Here is Randolph coverage from WGN News for a sneak preview:

Vintage Bazaar

This post is two weeks over due, but better late than never.

Vintage Bazaar was a huge success. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we wish it was every month. We will have to wait until September. The premises, an old warehouse in Pilsen, was a gorgeous space: open brick walls, unfinished wood floors and beams. Definitely an inspiring space with great big windows that let in tons of natural light. These shots were taken before the early buying started. Once the doors opened we couldn't even touch the camera, as our booth was filled with people bumper to bumper. We loved it! I was so impressed with my partner Kimberly's on the spot video interview with Northwestern University News. Who knew she was so prepared. I wanna send a big Thank you to Katherine and Libbey, the awesome organizers of the Vintage Bazaar. Great Job everyone! Can't wait till the September Show.

Shots from our booth before the doors opened

To our best luck we also had the kitty corner from our booth to showcase more of our Deco and Mid Century Merch
Me-proud and happy

Fabulous Kimberly of Estate Chicago

Ah yes, Kate Middleton was in our booth and bought this fabulous feather hat from us. Isn't she beautiful?
